Cookie Policy
Understanding how we use cookies to improve your experience.
Our Commitment to Transparency
This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies this site uses, what for and for how long, following the cookie guide of the AEPD, the Spanish data protection authority (May 2024 edition).
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to website owners.
Simple Analogy
Think of cookies like a name tag at a conference - they help the website remember who you are and your preferences when you return.
Types of Cookies We Use
We use different types of cookies for various purposes. Here's a breakdown of each type and how we use them:
Essential Cookies
Always ActiveThese keep the choices you make on this site. The law exempts them from consent because they only serve what you asked for, so they are always active.
- The user_preferred_language cookie keeps the language of the last page you opened, so that the home address takes you to it, for one year.
- The theme cookie keeps the light or dark theme you choose, for one year.
- The cookie_consent_essential cookie and three keys in your browser's local storage keep your cookie choice for one year.
- Other keys in local storage remember the calculator mode you choose, simple or advanced, and the notices you close, so that they do not appear again, until you clear your browser's data.
Analytics Cookies
OptionalGoogle Analytics sets these cookies only if you accept them, to count visits and see how the site is used.
- Visitor behavior patterns and user journeys
- Most popular content and features
- Traffic sources and referral information
Visits are counted with Umami, an audience measurement tool that we run on our own server. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, so under the AEPD position on audience measurement it needs no consent and runs regardless of the choices you make here. The details are in our privacy policy.
Third-Party Cookies
Only one third party sets cookies on this site, and only if you accept analytics cookies:
Google Analytics
Measures visits and how the site is used.
Cookies: _ga, which tells visitors apart, and _ga_2V53TLYJNC, which keeps the state of a visit. Google sets them on animalendar.com only once you accept analytics cookies, and each lasts up to two years. Provider: Google.
How Google uses this dataManaging Your Cookie Preferences
You're in Control
You decide which optional cookies to accept. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie button on every page, and delete cookies in your browser's settings.

Cookie Consent
On your first visit a banner lets you accept, configure or reject the optional cookies, which on this site are only those of Google Analytics. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie button at the bottom left of every page.
Your choice is kept in your browser: in its local storage, under animalendar_cookie_consent, animalendar_consent_timestamp and animalendar_consent_version, and in the cookie_consent_essential cookie. We ask for it again after one year. A choice made on zooclock.com or tiempoanimal.com does not carry over to animalendar.com, so we ask for it on your first visit here.
Your Options
- Accept: Google Analytics may set its cookies
- Configure: choose which optional cookies to allow
- Reject optional cookies (essential only)
